REHEARSAL IN MABOU STRASTHPEY PLACE MAY 25TH. CAPE BRETON BALLET STUDENTS WITH BALLET JORGEN DANCERS
REHEARSAL WITH BALLET JORGEN AT THE MIDDLE RIVER HALL MAY 24TH 2022
.
The opportunity to perform with a professional Ballet troupe was a marvelous privilege for the local students who danced in the production of Anne of Green gables with Ballet Jorgen. The dancers of the troupe, in particular, the ones to be Anne, Matthew, Merilla, and the town teacher, came to the studio in Middle River on the Cabot trail, Tuesday may 24TH, to rehearse with the young students of Ballet bras d’ Or and Kim Roper’s Sydney Mines East Coast Dance, to meet and get it ready. It was thrilling to see as one of the attendant said,” such a well- oiled machine in action”. In a couple of hours of intense coaching, the children learned their steps, their roles and the acting of the story required. The atmosphere was fun, high energy and the professionals very kind while the young ones paid rapt attention to rise to the challenge which they did. The day of the show they traveled to the Mabou stage “The Strasthpey” for a full day of more rehearsals, costume fittings, and a chance to observe how a ballet is put on stage. In the evening, they got to enjoy the magic of the Dance in front of a full audience. Certainly, all of us were glad to be in the public again, share the joy of movement and working together in this special form of entertainment and story telling. We are looking forward to have many more opportunities in the future with the burgeoning new students of Ballet Bras d’Or and other schools in the area who will like to join us. .
