Intensive Summer Dance Workshop with Yuliia Shevchenko & Diana Lambie

Enjoy a Family Holiday in Beautiful Inverness, C.B. The dancer in the family will enjoy a five-day intensive Dance class with Yuliia Shevchenko, wife of Igor Dobrovolskiy, artistic director of The Atlantic Ballet Theatre of Canada. Born in Kiev, Ukraine, Yuliia is a graduate of the Ukrainian State Ballet School, danced as a soloist with the State Theatre of Opera and Ballet in Plzen and the Bohemian Theatre of Opera and Ballet. She toured Europe and Canada and also danced with the Atlantic Ballet Theatre of Canada.
What about those of you who would like to be introduced to this wonderful art, together with your friends, or family members? You can limber up and learn the basic principles that a ballet initiation program can offer: alignment, poise, and muscle tone to name a few. On the more creative side, you can be involved in a composition class, and express yourself through choreography.
After a breakfast on the deck of your cabin, or an early swim, class starts at ten o'clock and the dancers are busy from morning until mid afternoon. The countryside around Inverness County is renowned for good fishing, amazing sightseeing, good music and hospitality.
Our guest teacher Yuliia Schvechenco, returning for her third year not only brings her experience as a professional dancer, she brings her grace and elegance as well as her charming Russian accent, keeping everyone glued to her every move and word. She challenges the dancers with a class that moves fast, but at the same time she kindly treats everyone with needed correction.
Diana Lambie, Ballet bras d'Or school of dance's artistic director will teach the initiation program for younger and newer students. Both programs will combine at the end of the week for a presentation on stage of the works created during the week.

Inverness is on Route 19 in Cape Breton. The Inverness County Centre for the Arts is located in the north end of the village of Inverness at 16080 Highway 19.
